課程概述

This course is an overview of research and theories in contemporary personality and social psychology. Although a complete coverage of social psychology does not seem possible, this course will cover those areas that seem most central to the mainstream, or the “cutting edge” of the field, and that appear to be areas of growth and challenge.

課程目標
 The goals for this course are 1) to understand current research and theories in personality and social psychology, and 2) to develop the ability to critique the scholarship of current reviews and studies in personality and social psychology. 
課程要求
 Preparation and participation in class discussion is essential. That is, your main requirement is to read, think, and discuss. The instructors will give some oral background to begin the class discussion. To facilitate discussion, you will turn in a 2-3 pages critical analysis of the readings for each week, with comments and discussion questions to the class leader and me on Monday before 11:00 AM. These commentaries (36%) and class discussion (24%) will constitute of your course grade. The remaining 40% will be divided by a written research proposal (25%) and your presentation of the proposal (15%).
